4. Select the attribute to be used in the expression:
a. In the first drop-down list on the line, click the arrow next to Avg CPU (%).
The Attribute Selection dialog box is displayed.
b. Select an attribute from any of the following categories:
• System
For information on the available choices, see “System Tab” (page 116).
• CPU
For information on the available choices, see “CPU Tab” (page 117).
• Memory
For information on the available choices, see “Memory Tab” (page 119).
• Network
For information on the available choices, see “Network Tab” (page 120).
• Disk
For information on the available choices, see “Disk Tab” (page 121).
• Power
For information on the available choices, see “Power Tab” (page 122).
5. Select the operator by clicking the arrow in the second drop-down list on the line.
(For example, you can select whether the attribute will be equal to the value that follows.)
The operators that appear depend on the attribute you selected.
6. Click the arrow in the third drop-down list to select the value.
The values that appear depend on the attribute you selected.
In some cases, you need to manually enter a value. If so, some special characters are not
allowed. See “Character support in Capacity Analysis queries” (page 112).
The following example tests for valid CPU readings. The expression says that the percentage
of valid CPU samples during a selected interval must be equal to 0.
7. Click the icon if you want to add a sub-expression.
NOTE: Clicking the icon on a line puts the sub-expression inside the scope of the
Any/All option.
See “Using sub-expressions” (page 114) for an example of a query using sub-expressions.
8. Continue to add expressions and/or sub-expressions to complete the query.
9. If an expression needs to be removed, click the icon on the line that needs to be removed.
NOTE: Clicking the icon on a sub-expression removes the entire sub-expression, not only
the Any/All option.
