HP Capacity Advisor 7.2 User Guide

Prerequisites
• You must be logged in to Matrix Operating Environment (see “Accessing Capacity Advisor”
(page 37)).
• You must have collected data on the systems of interest (see “Gathering data for Capacity
Advisor” (page 37)).
Some functions of a profile viewer require Capacity Advisor Tools permissions to be seen and
used.
Procedure 10 To access a profile viewer from the Optimize menu
This procedure gives you access to view historic resource utilization on a real system in your
network.
1. Select Optimize→Capacity Planning→View Profile...
The target selection wizard opens.
2. Select one system to view and click Apply. (For information on a typical task progression in
Systems Insight Manager, see “Creating a Task” in the HP Systems Insight Manager Help.
3. Verify the target system and click Run Now.
The profile viewer opens.
At this point, you have the option to calibrate power settings and edit I/O capacity.
NOTE:
When no data has been collected
If no data exists in the Capacity Advisor database for the selected system, and the system is
licensed to work with Capacity Advisor, check that the data collection configuration is correct
and that the data collection service is running. See HP Matrix Operating Environment Getting
Started Guide for more information.
Procedure 11 To access a profile viewer from the Matrix OE Visualization tab
This procedure gives you access to view historic resource utilization on a real system in your
network.
1. Select Tools→HP Matrix OE visualization...
The Visualization tab displays discovered systems.
2. Find a system to view and click the desired meter icon to open the Profile Viewer for that
utilization metric on that system. (. For information on meters appearing on the Visualization
tab, see “Utilization metrics” in visualization help.)
At this point, you have the option to calibrate power settings and edit I/O capacity.

When no data has been collected
If no data exists in the Capacity Advisor database for the selected system, and the system is

Procedure 12 To access a profile viewer when editing a scenario
This procedure gives you access to view simulated resource utilization on a simulated system. This
procedure assumes that you are starting from the Capacity Advisor Edit Scenario screen in the
System tab view.
