HP Insight Orchestration 6.0 User Guide

If you receive this email, you must add the LUN information to both the new server and the existing servers. You
only need to add the LUN information to the HP Insight Dynamics storage pool entry for the new server.
Action
I cannot add servers to an existing service using a Static IP address.Issue
Static IP allocation limitationPossible cause
When a service contains multiple servers and the network is configured with static IP addresses, you cannot
add additional servers to the provisioned service, even though the Insight Orchestration interface enables you
to create the request without a warning. When this type of request is processed, it fails.
Action
You can provision a service from a template only once, if the template defines a server group with statically
defined IP addresses and an auto allocated network. Typically, static IP addresses are used together with an
explicitly defined network in the template. However, you might want to create multiple infrastructures, each
having the same private static IP addresses, with each infrastructure containing its own network and VLAN.
Insight Orchestration does not support this configuration scenario. When static IP addresses are allocated to a
network, they cannot be reallocated to a different network.
To workaround this issue, change static IP addresses in the template each time you use the template, or use
automatic IP address allocation. Automatic allocation enables you to use the template multiple times for multiple
infrastructures, each having a different set of IP addresses assigned to the service.
A provisioning request remains paused during a manual storage allocation (approximately 5%), and I cannot
create a storage pool on HP Insight Dynamics because the VCDG is not listed on the Storage Pools screen.
Issue
VCDG is using factory default MAC/WWN settings.Possible cause
HP Insight Dynamics and Insight Orchestration do not support VCDG with factory default MAC/WWN settings.
Logical servers require portable WWNs and MAC addresses that can be moved from blade server to blade
Action
server. When creating a VCDomain Group in Virtual Connect Enterprise Manager, the user must select the HP
Pre-Defined option to enable portable WWNs and MAC Addresses. For more information, see the Virtual
Connect Enterprise Manager documentation. To avoid this issue, make sure the servers from a VCDG not
configured for portable addresses are not included in Insight Orchestration server pools. To resolve an existing
issue, cancel the request and resubmit the request using a target Insight Orchestration Pool that contains servers
from a VCDG with portable addresses.
The operating system deployment process through Insight Control server deployment fails when deploying to a
SAN booted physical server.
Issue
If the target server is sharing FC zones with other servers in the environment, changes in the SAN, like an RSCN
(Registered State Change Notification) event may lead to operating system deployment or SAN boot failures.
Possible cause
Use initiator WWN zones to isolate each of the servers within the fabric. This is a typical best-practice in SANs
where servers are booted from a disk within the SAN. See “Configuring storage pool entries, FC zones, and
disk array presentations”.

Troubleshooting items addressed in this section:
Virtual provisionings fail unexpectedly when there are a large number of logical servers being
provisioned.
The start function on virtual machine <logical_server_id> failed: There are not enough licenses installed
to perform the operation.
Select or create an empty folder as the target destination.
Unable to delete <vm name> on <host:path/to/vm>, VM may still exist. Please cleanup the directory
manually.
VMware ESX hosts are licensed but do not show up in Insight Orchestration Unassigned pool.
Create Request fails with a virtual machine customization error.
Provisioning a virtual machine failed with a VM must be powered off for customization error message.
Task for logical server <ls name> has failed. Failure: Service console load average on the source server
is greater than the threshold value. Retry the operation later.
Virtual provisionings fail unexpectedly when there are a large number of logical servers being provisioned. This
may occur when a template with a large number of logical servers is being provisioned or when many templates
are being provisioned simultaneously.
