2. Enable federated CMS in the hpio.properties file
a. On the primary CMS, in Windows Explorer, navigate to C:\Program Files\HP\
Insight Orchestration\conf
b. Edit hpio.properties
c. Change the federated.io property to federated.io=true and save the file.
3. Configure the Systems Insight Manager federated CMS list on the primary CMS
a. On the primary CMS, in Systems Insight Manager, select OptionsFederated CMS
Configuration…
b. Click Add CMS…
c. In CMS name, enter the primary CMS FQDN (or IP address if DNS is not running) and
click Next
d. In Verify Remote CMS Certificate, after verifying the certificate, click Next
e. In Configure Remote CMS, enter the Systems Insight Manager user name and password
and click Finish
f. On the CMS desktop, select StartAdministrative ToolsServices
g. Select HP Insight Orchestration, and select ActionRestart.
Configuring a federation
The following steps are required to configure the federated CMS environment.
Perform these steps:
after federated CMS is enabled automatically during a new Insight Software 6.3 installation
after federated CMS is enabled manually after a new Insight Software 6.3 installation that
did not successfully enable federated CMS
1. Configure secondary CMSs
When complete, this step configures Systems Insight Manager’s federated CMS list on the
primary CMS, exchanges certificates between the primary and secondary CMSs, configures
the primary CMS as trusted on the secondary CMSs, and displays the newly added CMSs in
Systems Insight Manager.
a. On the primary CMS, in Systems Insight Manager, select OptionsFederated CMS
Configuration….
b. Click Add CMS…
c. In CMS name, enter the secondary CMS FQDN (or IP address if DNS is not running) and
click Next
d. In Verify Remote CMS Certificate, after verifying the certificate, click Next
e. In Configure Remote CMS, enter the Systems Insight Manager user name and password
and click Finish
f. Repeat steps b through e for each secondary CMS.
2. Configure logical server management with the secondary CMSs' public IP address
a. On the primary CMS, in Windows Explorer, navigate to C:\Program Files\HP\
Virtual Server environment\conf\lsa
b. Edit lsaclient.properties
c. Change HPSIM_CMS_TCPIP_HOSTNAME=localhost to
HPSIM_CMS_TCPIP_HOSTNAME=secondary_CMS_public_IP, where
secondary_CMS_public_IP is the IP address of the secondary CMS that is also visible
to the primary CMS
d. Add a line containing HPSIM_CMS_TCPIP_HOSTNAME=secondary_CMS_public_IP
for each additional secondary CMS
e. Save the file.
