HP Insight Software 6.1 Support Matrix

Mozilla Firefox 3.0 or 3.5 as the preferred browsers for use with VCEM. For a list of browsers supported by Virtual Connect
Manager, see the
HP Virtual Connect for c-Class BladeSystem User Guide
.
2 Firefox is supported on Linux as well as on Microsoft Windows systems. Systems Insight Manager supports Firefox on HP-UX.
3 Insight Control server migration supports only Firefox version 3.0 (not 3.5). Insight Control server deployment does not support
Firefox.
Screen resolution
The minimum supported screen resolution on the CMS is 1024 x 768, but HP recommends 1280 x 1024.
Supported databases
Insight software requires a supported database for the CMS. If the CMS does not currently have a supported
database installed on it or does not have access to a remote database, you must install a database before
you begin installing Insight software. For your convenience, Insight Software DVD #1 contains Microsoft
SQL Server 2005 SP3 Express if you need to install a database.

Supported CMS configurations in a Microsoft Windows domain
HP recommends that you adhere to the following guidelines for your CMS configuration:
Do not install Insight software on domain controllers.
If one server is in a workgroup, ensure that each server has a local account with the same name and
password (both for services and database credentials).
Do not install Insight Control server deployment and the HP ProLiant Server OS Deployment Toolkit for
Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (part of HP Insight Control for Microsoft System Center)
in the same subnet. Both of these provide their own separate PXE boot services, and networking issues
can arise if both are installed on the same subnet at the same time.
HP recommends installing Insight Control server deployment and an HP Ignite-UX server on the same
subnet.
Insight Dynamics uses Microsoft Windows Single Sign-On (SSO) authentication for the Insight Dynamics
services/processes database connectivity. HP recommends using the same Microsoft Windows domain
account credentials for both the Systems Insight Manager/Insight Dynamics installation and the database
access.
A CMS configuration can contain two separate databases: a database for the CMS to store information
about all managed devices, and, if you install the Insight Control server deployment software, a deployment
database that stores the inventory and state information about managed systems. The databases can be
local to the CMS or can be located on a remote Microsoft SQL server. The CMS and the SQL database
servers do not need to be in the same domain and do not need to be in a trusted domain.
If you install Insight Control server deployment software, a CMS configuration also contains a deployment
server that stores copies of OS images to deploy to managed systems. The managed systems connect and
communicate with the deployment server to register inventory and configuration information and to run
