HP Integrity Virtual Server Manager 6.0 Release Notes

This document provides information about the HP Integrity Virtual Server Manager v6.0 release.
Integrity Virtual Server Manager overview
Integrity Virtual Server Manager v6.0 is used to manage virtual machines and virtual partitions. It
supports the features of HP Virtual Partitions v6.0 (vPars v6.0).
Integrity Virtual Server Manager
Integrity Virtual Server Manager is an application that you can use from your browser to manage
HP Integrity Virtual Machines (Integrity VM) and Virtual Partition resources. Based on the version
of Integrity VM installed, you can manage either virtual machines or virtual partitions, or both at
the same time.
Virtualization Services Platform
The Virtualization Services Platform (VSP) is a server that hosts multiple virtual partition guests. You
can manage the virtual partitions on the VSP from the Virtual Server Manager GUI or the vPars
6.0 CLI. For more information on vPars 6.0, see the HP Virtual Partitions v6.0 Administrator Guide
at www.hp.com/go/hpux-vpars-docs.
HP-UX Virtual Partitions
HP Virtual Partitions 6.0 is the new generation of the HP-UX Virtual Partitions product family. This
new version expands vPars functionality to the Integrity blade servers. vPars 6.0 provides workload
flexibility through the ability to add and remove CPUs from a running virtual partition. For more
information on vPars 6.0, see the HP Virtual Partitions v6.0 Administrator Guide at www.hp.com/
go/hpux-vpars-docs.
Matrix Operating Environment and Virtual Server Manager
HP Matrix Operating Environment v6.3 does not support Integrity VM 6.0 or 6.1. Support for
Matrix Operating Environment will be enabled in a future release of vPars.
New features in this release
This section describes the new and changed features in Virtual Server Manager v6.0 release.
In this release, Virtual Server Manager GUI is an enhanced form of the VM Manager GUI. Virtual
Server Manager v6.0 supports both virtual machines and virtual partitions management; however,
managing virtual machines or virtual partitions are enabled or disabled depending on the version
of Integrity VM installed.
If the Integrity VM version installed does not support virtual machines, the options to manage virtual
machines are disabled. If HP Integrity VM 6.0 is installed on Virtual Server Manager, the menu
options applicable to virtual machines are disabled. If Integrity VM v4.3PK2 and earlier is installed,
the menu options for virtual partitions are disabled.

The following features are new with Virtual Server Manager 6.0:
GUI name is modified from HP Integrity Virtual Machines Manager to HP Integrity Virtual
Server Manager.
