HP Matrix Operating Environment 7.3 Update 1 Installation and Configuration Guide for Provisioning with Virtual Resources

Gather all prerequisite Matrix Operating Environment required software media and verify correct
versions of media prior to installation. Make sure that you have access to appropriate media for
all of the listed software components and any necessary prerequisites. This includes:
HP Service Pack for ProLiant (SPP) DVD (includes HP ProLiant Support Pack) from http://
www.hp.com/go/spp
HP Insight Management DVD (two DVD set) or the latest Insight Management DVD ISO images,
including the Matrix Operating Environment, from http://www.hp.com/go/matrixoe.
Microsoft Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, or Mozilla Firefox. See the HP Insight Management
Support Matrix at Enterprise Information Library for browser version support.
Insight Management licenses for all software products that require them. You can find these
license keys on the license entitlement certificate. The license entitlement certificate directs you
to the HP License Key Delivery Service website (http://www.hp.com/software/licensing),
which contains the information you need to redeem your license activation keys. You cannot
apply an Insight Control license to a non–HP server. On non–HP servers, Insight Control virtual
machine management is licensed through a separate Matrix OE license. For more information,
see the HP Insight Management Getting Started Guide

Collecting network connection information
Collect the network names and addresses for all the planned components of the Matrix system,
including servers, management processors, and modules in the environment. For more information,
as well as checklists and templates to help gather this data, see the HP Insight Management
Preinstallation Worksheet available at Enterprise Information Library.
NOTE: Insight Management software does not support certain characters in a CMS name. When
choosing a CMS name, only use alphanumeric characters (a-z, 0-9) and a hyphen (-). The hostname
should not start with a digit or a hyphen, and must not end with a hyphen. Limit the name to less
than 15 characters.
Collecting management credentials
Create or obtain the following credentials for installing and configuring the solution:
An administrator account to use for the installation and ongoing maintenance of the Insight
Management Software.
An account to use for services created during installation that will run in the background —
this is usually the same as the installation account.
The credentials for any Onboard Administrator or Virtual Connect modules to be managed
by the installed CMS
