Troubleshooting tools
To begin troubleshooting perform the following tasks:
Verify that you have the supported versions of hardware, software, and firmware. For additional
information, see the HP Insight Management Support Matrix at Enterprise Information Library.
Review known issues. For information, see the five sets of release notes in Table 1 (page 7).
Ensure that DNS is configured for all managed systems. Without DNS configuration, issues
can occur, such as HP Matrix OE logical server management failure and Matrix infrastructure
orchestration deployment failure.
Ensure time synchronization has been performed among the CMS, managed systems (including
ESX hosts), VMware vCenter Server and System Center Virtual Machine Manager. Failure to
do so results in errors in both vCenter and Insight Management.
Ensure you have configured VMware vCenter Server and System Center Virtual Machine
Manager settings in HP SIM including the credentials and URL for vCenter. Without this
configuration, issues can occur, including infrastructure orchestration, VM provisioning failure.
After these initial steps use the following tools to identify and correct additional potential issues.
Using HP Insight managed system setup wizard
The managed system setup wizard is useful for troubleshooting many kinds of problems, including
licensing issues, agent installation and configuration, SSH configuration. The wizard’s analysis
page will determine what configuration is needed for the user’s selected features. Some of these
steps will be manual, but most will be performed automatically if you use the wizard.
The managed system setup wizard eases configuration of systems for many Insight Management
products and features. After you successfully complete the managed system setup wizard, the
selected systems are configured with the management features you specify. The managed system
setup wizard does the following:
Configures agents necessary to enable the management features
Applies software licenses as needed
Completes any additional configuration steps
You can run this wizard at any time to change the configuration or management features of your
systems. You should run the wizard to configure a managed system each time its operating system
is installed, updated, or changed.
You can also use this wizard to diagnose configuration issues with your systems.
