HP Matrix Operating Environment 7.3 Update 1 Installation and Configuration Guide for Provisioning with Virtual Resources

Running the vseassist tool
HP recommends the following diagnostic procedure to troubleshoot Matrix OE.
1. If you have administrative access to the CMS, execute the following command from the
command line:
VSEINSTALLDIR\bin\vseassist a
where VSEINSTALLDIR is the location of the installation.
The default install location is C:\Program Files\HP\Virtual Server Environment.
As an alternative to running the vseassist a command which runs all verifications, you
can select vseassist from the graphical user interface.
This command verifies the following information:
Matrix OE management software configuration on the CMS
Communication with all systems in the All VSE Resources collection
Matrix OE managed node software configuration on managed nodes
The vseassist -a command may take multiple hours to complete. The time consumed is
dictated by the number of managed nodes and their state. Improperly configured systems will
take longer.
2. After running this command, see the summary output and examine the log file for any issues.
The log file is located at:
C:\Program Files\HP\Virtual Server Environment\logs
Follow the resolution steps in the log to correct any issues.
Check the configuration of the CMS, managed nodes, and CMS to managed node communication
using the following steps:
1. Resolve all issues with the configuration of the CMS by performing one of the following steps:
From the HP SIM graphical user interface, select DiagnoseTroubleshoot Matrix Operating
EnvironmentCheck CMS Configuration
Alternatively, on the CMS command line enter:
vseassist -c
As the vseassist diagnostic tool is running, the results of each check will be displayed on the
screen. Figure 3 (page 129) shows a CMS configuration verification.
