HP Matrix Operating Environment 7.3 Update 1 Installation and Configuration Guide for Provisioning with Virtual Resources

account for the credentials. The installation works if you use the local admin (root) account for the
managed node.
Suggested actions
Disable UAC on the managed node. For information, see the Microsoft TechNet article User
Account Control Step-by-Step Guide available at the following website:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc709691(WS.10).aspx.
Use the local admin account of the managed node for the credentials.
A local user or domain account becomes locked out
Issue
When running discovery or identification tasks in HP SIM, a local user or domain account becomes
locked out.
Possible causes
The credentials provided to HP SIM are incorrect.
Suggested actions
If using system credentials, verify that the credentials are correct for the managed nodes (sign-in
credentials are used for WBEM/WMI access).
1. Open a command prompt on the CMS, and enter mxnodesecurity -l -p <sign-in>
to see the names of the devices that have credentials manually set. If any of the managed
node server names or IP addresses appear, then credentials have been manually set on the
system and could potentially be incorrect.
2. In the Search box in HP SIM, type the name of the server in question from the command line
output, and then access the System page for that device by clicking on the name.
3. Click Tools and Links, and then click System Credentials under the HP SIM Pages section.
4. Select the checkbox in the gray area to select all credentials, and then click Edit system
credentials.
5. In the Sign In credentials section, if there is a user name listed, it was manually configured by
a user. If there are no credentials listed, either the Discovery Task or Global Credentials are
being used.
6. You can manually change the credentials by editing them and then clicking OK, or you can
remove the username and password (and confirmation) data, and then click OK. If you remove
the system credentials, HP SIM uses the Discovery (recommended) or Global credentials
information, if configured.
WBEM/WMI authentication and communication issues
Issues
HP SIM cannot connect to the WBEM/WMI data on a managed node. This causes HP Matrix
OE visualization to display warnings on the utilization meters and prevents Matrix OE capacity
planning from collecting utilization data from the managed systems.
Matrix OE capacity planning reports a WBEM communication error such as:
Capcollect report this Error: System information is not available
from the WBEM provider. Collection from this system cannot proceed
until this situation is corrected.
Discovery tasks report invalid WBEM/WMI credentials.
Vseassist reports a WBEM authentication failure.
