invoke the VCM user interface, click Make changes via VC Manager. From the VCEM user
interface, perform the following steps:
1. Click the VC Domains tab.
2. Select the VC Domain.
3. Click VC Domain Maintenance.
This performs a partial unlock of the VCM user interface and allows you to perform the
following workaround steps.
Workaround 1: Turn off SmartLink and then configure Ethernet Connection Mode to
enable failover. This allows VC to automatically fail over to another route in the event of
external uplink failure without affecting the individual Flex-NIC connected to ESX.
Workaround 2: Enable beacon probing in the vSwitch or port group with multiple
Flex-NICs teamed. Verify the following:
SmartLink is turned on.
Ethernet Connection Mode is configured to disable failover.
After the workaround steps are completed, go back to the VCEM user interface and click
Complete VC Domain Maintenance. This will bring the changes performed above back into
VCEM and allow VCEM to propagate these to the other VCDs in the VC Domain Group.
Detecting and repairing database connectivity problems
Issues
Any of the following:
An error communicating with Insight Control virtual machine manager from infrastructure
orchestration, recovery management and Matrix OE occurs.
Deployments fail in infrastructure orchestration due to connectivity problems with Insight Control
virtual machine manager.
Logical servers recovery failures occur in recovery management due to connectivity problems
with Insight Control virtual machine management.
Performance data meter in Matrix OE visualization is unavailable.
Unable to communicate with Insight Control virtual machine manager message in the System
page of the virtual machine host/guest.
Insight Control virtual machine manager service no longer running. This can be verified in
Windows Services on the CMS.
The following error message displays in the Insight Control virtual machine manager service
log file:
Error connecting to Insight Control virtual machine management database instance.
Ensure the database instance is up and running.
Initiating Insight Control virtual machine management service shutdown.
Possible causes
Database connectivity is not established between the CMS and the database server, due to one
of the following conditions:
Network failures
Invalid database credentials
Database password lockout
Change of database password and not syncing up the password in HP SIM
Duplicate IP address in the network
