HP Matrix Operating Environment 7.3 Update 1 Installation and Configuration Guide for Provisioning with Virtual Resources

Option 1: Define a discovery task for the OA only
If your environment includes Virtual Connect enclosures, it is recommended to define a discovery
task for the Onboard Administrators. This will automatically detect the relationship among the
modules and blades.
1. Select OptionsDiscovery….
2. Click on New….
3. Select Discover a group of systems.
4. Add a name, for example, Onboard Administrators.
5. Uncheck the automatic discovery checkbox.
6. Add the IP addresses (for both primary and standby) for the OAs you want to discover.
7. Click Credentials….
8. On the Sign In tab, set the appropriate Administrator credentials for the OAs in the username
and password fields.
NOTE: OA login credentials are case sensitive.
9. Also add the Virtual Connect Modules and iLO administrator credentials for all the blades in
the enclosure. For each anticipated set of credentials, click <<Add and set the appropriate
administrator credentials. (For example, if there is an Integrity blade in the enclosure, the
default username for the Integrity iLO is admin).
10. Click on the SNMP tab.
11. Set the appropriate SNMP community string, if different than the global community string
specified in the Global Credentials dialog box above.
12. Click OK.
13. Click Criticality and then select Non-Critical.
14. Click Save.
15. Click Run Now.
16. Verify that the task results show up in the same window and completed successfully. This should
populate HP SIM with all HP BladeSystem enclosure modules and server blades.
NOTE: Virtual Connect Fibre Channel modules will return the following minor error that can
be safely ignored:
Minor: Identification has detected that the value (NULL) in the cpqHoGUID MIB is not a valid
value for the UUID in HP SIM. For servers, verify that the latest supported HP Insight
Management Agent is installed. For non-servers, verify that the latest supported firmware
version is installed.
Option 2: Define a discovery task for the VMware vCenter servers
If there are ESX/ESXi servers being managed by the CMS, then define a discovery task for the
VMware vCenter servers which manage these hosts.
NOTE: All vCenter servers are required to be discovered first as managed systems before you
configure vCenter settings in HP SIM.
1. Select OptionsDiscovery….
2. Click New….
3. Select Discover a group of systems.
4. Add a name, for example, vCenters.
5. Uncheck automatic discovery.
6. Add the IP addresses for vCenter servers.
7. Click Credentials….
