c. Select the Create subscriptions for WBEM events checkbox.
d. Select the Set read community string checkbox, and enter the desired community string.
e. Select the Set traps to refer to this instance of HP Systems Insight Manager checkbox.
f. Select the Configure a secure shell (SSH) access checkbox.
g. Select Host based authentication.
h. Select the Set trust relationship to “Trust by Certificated” checkbox.
i. Click OK.
12. Click Save.
13. Click Run Now.
14. Verify the task results show up in the same window which indicates they completed successfully.
NOTE: If your vCenter Server is running inside a Virtual Machine, the following Minor error can
be safely ignored:
Minor: The discovered VM guest is not associated with the VM host. Verify that the supported HP
Insight Management Agents or WBEM providers are installed on the host, and verify that the host
was discovered.
Option 3: Define a discovery task for the SCVMM servers
NOTE: SCVMM servers are required to be discovered first as managed systems before you
configure SCVMM settings in HP SIM.
1. Select OptionsDiscovery. Click New.
2. Select Discover a group of systems.
3. Add a name, for example, SCVMM. Uncheck Automatic discovery.
4. Add the IP addresses for domain SCVMM servers. Click Credentials.
5. On the Sign In tab, set the appropriate Administrator credentials. For SCVMM servers that
are part of a domain, you must use domain credentials, not a local administrative account.Set
the appropriate SNMP community string, if different than the global community string specified
in the Global Credentials dialog box above, and then Click OK.
6. Click Criticality and then select Non-Critical.
7. (OPTIONAL) Click Configure/Repair.
a. Select the Configure newly managed systems checkbox. Click Use Sign-in credentials.
b. Select the Create subscriptions for WBEM events checkbox.
c. Select the Set read community string checkbox, and enter the desired community string.
Select the Set traps to refer to this instance of HP Systems Insight Manager checkbox.
d. Select the Configure a secure shell (SSH) access checkbox. Click Host based authentication.
e. Select the Set trust relationship to “Trust by Certificate” checkbox.
f. Click OK.
8. Click Save.
9. Click Run Now.
Verify that the task results show up in the same window, which indicates they completed successfully.
NOTE: When HP SIM discovers a hypervisor host, it also discovers the guest virtual machines
for each host that volunteers guests. The credentials used for the guests are the same set used for
the host. Therefore, you may need to balance your host discover task definitions with your various
guest operating system credentials. Alternatively, you may create a separate discover task for your
guests and not include any guest credentials in your host discover tasks.
