HP Matrix Operating Environment 7.3 Update 1 Installation and Configuration Guide for Provisioning with Virtual Resources

The following constraints apply when using SCVMM templates.
Microsoft SCVMM 2008 R2 is required for this integration
A subset of SCVMM templates are included in the IO inventory:
Hyper-V templates with a single VM are included
ESX and other hypervisor types are excluded
Multi-server (SCVMM service) templates are excluded
No explicit indication is given when a template is filtered from view
Create SCVMM templates with the “No Customization Required” option. IO overwrites the
SCVMM customization parameters with its own customization, and some SCVMM customization
parameters could persist after IO customization, potentially creating a confusing result.
VMs deployed using SCVMM in a Hyper-V cluster environment are enabled for high availability
(HA) by default, even when the IO template specifies a non-HA VM. If the VM is later
deactivated and reactivated, it will continue to be enabled for high availability.
External cloud provider images
HP supported bursting destinations have unique requirements that must be taken into account when
creating templates:
For HP Cloud services, Amazon EC2, and other CloudAgile certified service providers, a
large collection of software images may be available. You can configure filters to control the
set of images displayed in the Matrix software inventory.
Using Matrix OE with Savvis requires client-provided images uploaded to Savvis.
When bursting to another Matrix system, all images available to the configured user are listed
by default. However, you can define image filter rules to reduce the set.
Filtering is controlled by the XML based filter file specified by the cloud capacity pool configuration
file.

Configuring Matrix infrastructure orchestration resources
Before using infrastructure orchestration, you must use the infrastructure orchestration console to
set up server pools and networks, and verify information in the Users and Software tabs.
A member of the HPIO_Administrators Windows group can log on the infrastructure orchestration
console through HP SIM. Matrix infrastructure orchestration administrators can then set up resources
to allow provisioning.
