Organizations must be given unique names. The Service Provider administrator populates the Organization
Administrator and Organization User roles by adding pre-existing local Windows Users. If the CMS is part of a
Windows domain, pre-existing Active Directory Users or Groups can also be added. The organization can be edited
at any time, e.g., administrators and users can be added or removed.
Organizations are given a unique identifier, of form org<string of decimal digits>, when they are created. This
is displayed in the Organization tab list view. The organization identifier is unchanged when an organization is
renamed.

The Service Provider Admin is also responsible for assigning (and un-assigning) resources to an organization. Each
organization has
A set of compute resources, where a compute resource can be a virtual machine host, a physical blade, an ESX
Resource Pool or a Cloud Resource (see the Capacity Pools section for detailed information on ESXcapacityPools
and Cloud Resources). A compute resource cannot be shared between organizations.
A set of networks. Networks may be assigned to multiple organizations.
A set of IO templates. IO templates may be assigned to multiple organizations
A set of software items. Software items may be assigned to multiple organizations.
Figure 9: Assigning resources to an organization from the Console
In order to be assigned to an organization, the compute resource must be in the Service Provider’s Unassigned Pool;
when it has been assigned, it appears in the organizations Unassigned Pool. In order to safeguard privacy between
organizations only compute resources that are not in-use, i.e. not hosting a service, can be assigned.
