Procedure 16 Backing up your HP Matrix OE for HP-UX CMS configuration
To make a complete backup of your HP Matrix OE for HP-UX configuration, perform the following
steps:
1. If you are using gWLM, undeploy all shared resource domains (SRDs) and stop using the
existing version, including the command-line interface. You can continue running the gWLM
daemons (gwlmcmsd and gwlmagent) and the WBEM service and provider daemons.
2. Stop using the version of Capacity Advisor that is already installed, including the command-line
interface. If necessary, use the following substeps to disable each automatically scheduled
Capacity Advisor data collection task:
a. Select Tasks & LogsView All Scheduled Tasks from the Capacity Planning menu bar.
b. Select the task from the list Collect All Capacity Advisor Data Nightly.
IMPORTANT: For Virtual Server Environment 4.*, the scheduled task name is Collect
Capacity Advisor Data. For Insight Dynamics-VSE 6.* the scheduled task is named Collect
All Capacity Advisor Data Nightly.
If you have replaced this task with custom data collection schedules, those schedules must
be disabled as well.
c. Click Edit.
d. Click Schedule.
e. Check the Disable this task check box.
f. Click Done.
g. Verify that the task you just edited is in the list and now shows Task is Disabled in
the Schedule column.
3. Ensure all in-progress installation and configuration tasks have completed (for example,
Configure and Repair Agents tasks or Deploy Drivers, Firmware or Agents tasks). View the
status of the tasks by selecting Tasks & LogsView Task Results… from the top menu. Click
the End Time column name to sort the task list. Tasks displaying an empty End Time have not
yet finished.
4. Log out of Systems Insight Manager.
5. You can perform the following optional steps
a. Issue the gwlm history --flush command to gather the latest historical data from
the gWLM agents. Skip this step if you are not using the CMS to manage gWLM on
Integrity servers
b. Use the capcollect command to collect the latest Capacity Advisor data into the Matrix
OE for HP-UX database. For more information, see capcollect(1M).
6. Quiesce the services that update the database prior to initiating the backup as follows:
