2 System requirements
The following sections provide a summary of the hardware and software requirements of Matrix
OE version 7 installed on a CMS running HP-UX.
For detailed information about supported hardware and software, including requirements for a
CMS running HP-UX or Microsoft Windows, see the HP Matrix Operating Environment Support
Matrix.
HP Systems Insight Manager
HP Matrix Operating Environment version 7.0 runs under Systems Insight Manager Version 7.0
or later. See “Before upgrading from a previous version” (page 11) for the recommended upgrade
procedure.
NOTE: When upgrading HP Systems Insight Manager to 7.0 or later, you must also upgrade
Virtual Server Environment 4.* or Insight Dynamics-VSE 6.* to HP Matrix OE 7.0 or later. (This
may require incremental upgrade steps.) VSE 4.* and ID-VSE 6.* software is not compatible with
Systems Insight Manager 7.0 or later.
System requirements for Systems Insight Manager are defined in the HP Systems Insight Manager
Installation and Configuration Guide for HP-UXavailable at http://www.hp.com/go/
insightmanagement/sim/. Refer to that document for information about Systems Insight Manager
requirements and dependencies. In particular, note that you might need to install HP-UX patches
before you install Systems Insight Manager.
In addition to the requirements imposed by Systems Insight Manager, the requirements for this
release of Matrix OE are described in the HP Insight Management Support Matrix .
Compatibility with HP-UX Bastille and other network firewalls
HP Insight Management Support Matrix Network firewall software such as HP-UX Bastille might
block the communication protocols used by Matrix OE for HP-UX. If your CMS or Insight
Management managed systems use firewall software, follow the port configuration guidelines in
the HP Insight Management Support Matrix .
