Continentalclusters for Linux Version B.12.00.00 Release Notes

Support for IPv6 protocol
Primary and recovery clusters in Continentalclusters can be configured with IPv6 address.
Additionally, notifications provided for cluster events can use an IPv6 address.
IMPORTANT: A mixed cluster configuration, in which one cluster is configured with the IPv4
protocol, and the other cluster with the IPv6 protocol, is not supported.
Support for Device Mapper multipathing (DM-Multipath)
Metrocluster for Linux supports configuring Device Mapper multipathing (DM-Multipath) for disks
used in Continentalclusters packages. All Serviceguard related restrictions and guidelines for
supporting DM-Multipath are also applicable for Continentalclusters configurations.
For more information on the restrictions, see the HP Serviceguard for Linux Certification Matrix
available at http://www.hp.com/go/linux-serviceguard-docs.
Support for VMWare virtual machines as Continentalclusters nodes
Continentalclusters for Linux includes support for configuring VMWare virtual machines as
Continentalclusters nodes. All Serviceguard related restrictions and guidelines for configuring
VMWare virtual machines as Continentalclusters nodes are also applicable for Continentalclusters
configurations.
In Continentalclusters configurations using pre-integrated data replication solution using HP 3PAR
Remote Copy, HP Storage Continuous Access P9000/XP, and Continuous Access EVA, you must
configure Fiber channel N-Port ID Virtualization (NPIV) for all the virtual machines. For more
information on configuring NPIV, see Using HP Serviceguard for Linux with VMware virtual machines
whitepaper available at http://www.hp.com/go/linux-serviceguard-docs.
Support for 32 nodes in a cluster
Continentalclusters for Linux supports 32 nodes in a cluster. For example, in a configuration where
two independent Serviceguard cluster configured in basic Continentalcluster architecture, there
can be upto 64 nodes (upto 32 nodes at the primary site and upto 32 Node at recovery site).
Features not supported in B.12.00.00
Online reconfiguration of the package
Continentalclusters for Linux does not support online reconfiguration of the package.
Compatibility information and installation requirements
The same version of Continentalclusters for Linux and HP Serviceguard for Linux must be installed
on all the nodes in all the clusters of the configuration. To use Continentalclusters for Linux, the
following hardware and software must be installed and configured on all the nodes.
Hardware requirements
Host system hardware requirements
HP ProLiant Servers
Software requirements
There are both HP software and disk array management software requirements.
