Neoview Database Administrator's Guide (R2.2)

About The Super ID
Your system is preconfigured with a super user ID. The super ID is configured to be suspended
and HP recommends that you leave it suspended during normal operation.
CAUTION: For your system’s security, change this password as soon as you receive your system.
To change the super ID password, follow the procedures described in “Managing the Super ID”
(page 87).
About The Services ID
Your system is preconfigured with a services ID. It is intended to be used by HP Support.
Linux Accounts
Your Linux system is delivered with two preconfigured accounts:
PasswordGroupAccount
sysadminrolemgrsysadmin
useradminrolemgruseradmin
Use the useradmin account to set up accounts on the Linux platform, and use those accounts to
load or extract data. For details about maintaining Linux accounts, see “Managing Linux
Accounts” (page 30)
CAUTION: For your system’s security, change these passwords as soon as you receive your
system. Do not lose the new password. All passwords can be recovered (by using the useradmin
account menu-option five), even root. However, if you cannot log in to useradmin because you
do not have the password, you have permanently lost access to the useradmin account.
The root account is frozen on your Linux system. To maintain data integrity, HP recommends
that you do not thaw this account.
About the Sysadmin Account
The sysadmin user account is intended to be used for system maintenance and for maintaining
Neoview Loader logs. For descriptions of these tasks, see “Performing Linux System
Administration Tasks” (page 92).
About the Useradmin Account
The Linux useradmin account is similar to the ROLE.MGR user ID on the Neoview platform. It
is intended to be used to add and maintain user accounts on the Linux platform. You use these
accounts to load or extract data. The useradmin account is menu driven and does not allow access
to a shell.
About User Accounts
User accounts created by useradmin are intended to be used to load or extract data with the
Neoview Loader.
As useradmin, you can set any password, but a regular user must enter a password that contains
a digit or special character, and the password must not have been used b before.
