Managing the Super ID

The super ID is the user ID that has unlimited access to the platform. For system security, HP

recommends that you configure your system for daily business operations with the super ID

inactive. However, there might be times when you must activate the super ID; for example, if

super ID privileges are needed to debug a problem. In this scenario, HP Support will call you to

activate the super ID for their use. You will need to disclose the super ID password to HP Support

after activating the super ID. Super ID will be activated only for a limited period of time. As soon

as HP support has debugged the problem, they will notify you. Then, you should suspend the

super ID and change the password.

Only users assigned to the MGR role can activate and suspend the super ID.

Any time you activate the super ID, you must change its password.

When you suspend the super ID, no future logins are allowed under the super ID. Super ID

sessions already logged in are not affected. However, when these sessions log out, they cannot

To activate or suspend the super ID:

1. Start DB Admin and log on using any user ID assigned to the MGR role.

2. Click the Users tab and select the Manage Super tab. A status message shows the super ID’s

status:

3. Click Suspend Super or Activate Super. If you select Activate Super, you must enter a new

password and confirm it.

DB Admin prompts you to confirm that you want to suspend or activate the super ID. When

you click Yes, it attempts to perform the operation and either displays an error or indicates

that the operation was successful and displays the Manage Super screen with the super ID’s

new status.

Suspension or activation takes effect immediately.
