1.2.1 Minimum firmware requirements
Ensure that the devices you plan to manage have the following minimum firmware versions before
you add them to the appliance.

Firmware considerations for HP Virtual Connect modules
• HP OneView supports only the HP Virtual Connect firmware versions 3.15 and later as the
minimum firmware version for adding a logical interconnect to the appliance.
If an interconnect has an earlier version of HP Virtual Connect firmware, HP recommends
using the VCSU (Virtual Connect Support Utility) to update the firmware to version 3.15 before
adding the device to the appliance.
• HP OneView can manage and configure HP Virtual Connect interconnect modules that have
a minimum firmware version of 4.10. Any module that has an earlier firmware version when
it is added to the appliance is flagged for a firmware update. The flagged modules remain
in an unmanaged state until you update the firmware.
1.2.2 Firmware management baselines
When you add enclosures and servers to the managed environment, you can specify a firmware
baseline for the Onboard Administrator and iLO modules.
If you do not specify a firmware baseline, the Onboard Administrator and iLO modules are updated
automatically to have the minimum firmware versions required to be actively managed by the
appliance. For example, for Onboard Administrator, firmware version 3.00 is the minimum version
required to add a device to the appliance; however, firmware version 4.01 is the minimum version
required to actively manage the device.
NOTE: The HP Virtual Connect module firmware update is a separate process that you manage
at the logical interconnect resource.
