20 Managing enclosures and enclosure groups
An enclosure is a physical structure that can contain server blades, infrastructure hardware, and
interconnects.
An enclosure group specifies a standard configuration for all of its member enclosures. Enclosure
groups enable administrators to provision multiple enclosures in a consistent, predictable manner
in seconds.

20.1 Prerequisites for bringing an enclosure under management
An enclosure must meet the following prerequisites in order for the appliance to manage it:

The enclosure must be a supported model listed in the HP OneView Support Matrix.
The enclosure power is turned on.
NOTE: To enable the appliance to manage the server hardware seated in an enclosure, the
server hardware must meet the prerequisites listed in “Prerequisites for bringing server hardware
under management” (page 123).
Enclosure model
The enclosure firmware must be at the minimum supported firmware version listed in the HP
OneView Support Matrix.
The appliance firmware repository must be populated with at least one firmware bundle.

If the enclosure has two Onboard Administrators, both OAs must be at the same firmware
version.
The primary or standby OA must be configured with a host name or IP address and must be
reachable by the appliance.
As part of bringing an OA under management, a local user account is added, so the OA must
be configured to allow for local user accounts.

or manually with Enclosure Bay IP Addressing (EBIPA)-specified addresses.
