Known Issues and Workarounds
Installing SAR
If you plan on using SAR, you must install SAR V1.0D before you update your Management
Appliance software to V2.0. You cannot install SAR V1.0D on a Management Appliance already
updated to V2.0. You can only install SAR V1.0D SP2, which requires SAR V1.0D, after updating the
Management Appliance software to V2.0.
Use the following procedure to install SAR V1.0D on your Management Appliance.
1. Install SAR V1.0D and Service Pack 1 on the Management Appliance software V1.0C. Service
Pack 1 is optional.
2. Update the Management Appliance software to V2.0 See the Storage Management Appliance
Update Installation Card for help on installing the update.
3. Install SAR V1.0D Service Pack 2.
SAR is now ready for use.
Renaming the Management Appliance before installing SAR
If you plan to rename your Management Appliance, you must rename the Management Appliance
before installing SAR V1.0D SP2. Otherwise, SAR will fail to launch successfully.
Joining a Domain with SAR
If you rename the Management Appliance and then join a domain, SAR may not launch properly. The
workaround for this issue is to reinstall SAR V1.0D SP2 after joining a domain.
Viewing Help Pages
Problem: Viewing Help on UNIX platforms and OpenVMS with the Netscape V6.2 web browser
Solution: The SAR HTML help does not display properly on all UNIX and OpenVMS operating
system platforms with the Netscape V6.2 web browser. In the section of the help file called the Table
of Contents pane, the text does not display. To view the Help Pages, open it through a Windows
system. The recommended way to view SAR help files is through Internet Explorer.
