HP StorageWorks EVA VDS and VSS Hardware Providers 6.05.00 for Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2 release notes (T1634-96094, April 2010)

Installation Instructions
For Windows Server 2008, the installer will automatically upgrade previous installations of the
hardware provider software to the latest version.
For Windows Server 2008 R2, you must manually remove the previous version (v6.04.00) of the
hardware provider software before installing the latest version.
There are three installers for the hardware providers:
HP_StorageWorks_VDS_VSS_Hardware_Provider_EVA_v6_05_00_x86.exe
NOTE:
The x86 installer is applicable only to Windows Server 2008, but the x64 and ia64 installers are
applicable to both Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2.
HP_StorageWorks_VDS_VSS_Hardware_Provider_EVA_v6_05_00_x64.exe
HP_StorageWorks_VDS_VSS_Hardware_Provider_EVA_v6_05_00_ia64.exe
NOTE:
Windows Server 2008 Server Core does not run on Itanium servers.
Windows Server 2008 R2 Server Core and Windows Hyper-V Server 2008 R2 run only on
x64 servers.
The installer package is common for Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2.
For installation instructions see the HP StorageWorks Hardware Providers for VDS/VSS installation
guide (T1634-96096, March 2010). The guide is included with the installation software package
and provides detailed installation and configuration instructions.
Compatibility/Interoperability
Only one dedicated Command View workstation is supported within the SAN configuration which
manages VDS/VSS storage resources.
If the EVA VSS hardware provider and Command View EVA are present on the same server, do
not include the drive letter or mount point where the Command View EVA software is located as
part of a shadow copy volume set. For example, if the EVA VSS hardware provider and Command
View EVA are on drive D, do not include drive D with an EVA LUN in a shadow copy set. Doing
so causes the EVA VSS hardware provider to time out due to conflict with Command View logging
on this drive.
Mirrorclones are supported with microcode version XCS 6.11 or later.
Version 5.04.00 of the HP StorageWorks Enterprise Virtual Array Hardware Providers software
is the last version that will support the HP StorageWorks 3000 EVA Storage System and the HP
StorageWorks 5000 EVA Storage System.
The hardware providers do not support vdisks created under a folder that is nested within 40 or
more recursively nested folders.
A LUN resync operation occurs when a source LUN is restored from a shadow copy created by
using one of the following techniques: Snapclone, mirrorclone, snapshot, or mirrorclone-snapshot.
