HP StorageWorks EVA VDS and VSS Hardware Providers 6.05.00 for Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2 release notes (T1634-96094, April 2010)

In a LUN resync operation, the source LUN is the LUN used for creating a shadow copy, and a
different LUN is a LUN that is not the source LUN of the shadow copy used for resync/restore.
LUN resync is supported on all EVA arrays except for the HP StorageWorks 3000 EVA Storage
System and the HP StorageWorks 5000 EVA Storage System.
The following resync scenarios are supported:
Resync from a demand-allocated or fully-allocated snapshot to the source LUN
Resync from a fractured mirrorclone to the source LUN
Resync from a demand-allocated or fully-allocated snapshot of a mirrorclone to the mirrorclone
source LUN
Resync from a snapclone to the source LUN
Resync from a snapclone to a different LUN
The following resync scenarios are not supported:
Resync from a snapshot to a different LUN
Resync from a fractured mirrorclone to a different LUN
Resync from a snapshot of a mirrorclone to a different LUN
Creating a snapshot immediately after a LUN resync operation will fail if you do not restart the
VSS service after the resync operation. To restart the VSS service, run the commands Net stop
VSS and Net start VSS or select the Restart option for the VSS service listed in the service
control manager snap-in.
After a LUN shrink operation using the VDS hardware provider, you must perform the Subsystem
Renumerate operation to update the LUN properties.
