Before installing the host agent software on a Windows host, you must:
• Have system administrator authority on the server on which you want to install the host agent
software.
• Install the appropriate SNIA libraries for Windows. Go to the software downloads page of
the HP Business Support Center website (http://www.hp.com/support/downloads), and then
select your product.
Installing the host agent software
To install the host agent software:
1. Do one of the following:
• Copy the host agent software files (see Table 2 (page 17)) to the host and invoke
permissions.

• Insert the software CD in the host drive.
On an HP OpenVMS host, enter the following command to mount the software CD:
mount /MEDIA_FORMAT=CDROM /UNDEFINED_FAT=fixed:none:8192 /over=id

2. Do one of the following to initiate the installation:
a. Double-click the file for the applicable operating system listed in Table 3 (page 18).
b. Alternatively, open a command window and enter the following command to start the
installation (this command is not for use on HP OpenVMS hosts):
<file name> -console or ./<file name> –console (if the current directory
is not in the PATH)
Select one of the following:
i. Typical: Installs host agent software and the CLUI client.
ii. Custom: Installs the software you select (either host agent software or the CLUI client).
Clear the check box for the software you do not want to install and continue with
the installation.
c. For UNIX hosts, enter the command ./<file name>. Be sure to access the directory
where the host agent software file is located.
d. For HP OpenVMS hosts, enter the following command:
$ product install rsmha /source=<path of the host agent software
file location>
NOTE: If you enter 3 to exit the installation, an error message may appear. You should
ignore this message.
