HP P6000 Replication Solutions Manager Installation Guide (T3680-96092, October 2012)

4 Troubleshooting
This chapter describes known problems and suggested resolutions for troubleshooting the software
installation.
Communication failure between the replication manager and the Windows
host agent
Communication between the replication manager and the Windows host agent can fail after the
host agent software installation if any of the following changes are made:
Domain-based privilege checking is selected during installation of the host agent software,
and either the domain name or the group name changes or the host is moved out of the
domain.
Domain-based privilege checking is not selected during installation, but either the host name
or the group name changes.
Resolution: Perform one of the following tasks:
Remove and then reinstall the replication manager host agent software using the new group
credentials/settings on the host affected by the problem.
Disable privilege checking on the host agent by specifying false for the following parameters
in the hprsmha.cfg file (in the directory <RSM host agent installpath>/RSMHostSW/
RSMHA):
NS_SERVER_CONTROL_PRIVILEGES
NS_HOST_SERVICES_PRIVILEGES
NS_APP_SERVICES_PRIVILEGES
You must restart the host agent service for these changes to take effect.
Deleted or changed contents of the vpd folder
If you delete or change the contents of the vpd folder added to the C:\ drive (or software folder)
after installing the replication manager, subsequent installation and removal operations will fail.
Resolution: Do not delete or change the contents of the folder.
During a replication manager host agent upgrade, JVM - Not defined
error occurs
During a replication manager host agent software upgrade, if you attempt to use the same install
location that was used for the previous version, the replication manager host agent installer reports
a JVM - Not defined error and the upgrade fails. This occurs on the following host systems:
Windows 2003 x64 Extended System
Windows Server 2003 for Itanium-based system
Sun Solaris 9
Sun Solaris 10
Resolution: When upgrading the replication manager host agent software on Windows 2003
x64, Windows Itanium, or Sun Solaris platforms, select an install location that is different from the
install location of the previous version.
