1 Preparation
This chapter describes the contents of the software CDs and downloads and explains the
prerequisites for installing HP P6000 Replication Solutions Manager (the replication manager).
IMPORTANT: HP P6000 Replication Solutions Manager (formerly HP StorageWorks Replication
Solutions Manager) supports all HP P6000 Enterprise Virtual Array (EVA) models. General references
to HP P6000 Replication Solutions Manager may also refer to earlier versions of HP Replication
Solutions Manager. P6000 is the new branding for the Enterprise Virtual array product family.
Disk media or E-Delivery kit
HP P6000 Replication Solutions Manager contains the following components:
Server software
Host agent software
HP P6000 Replication Solutions Manager is included when you purchase HP P6000 Command
View or HP P6000 SmartStart Software. You can choose to receive software disks or an E-Delivery
kit. For information about receiving an E-Delivery kit, see the HP P6000 Command View Software
Suite Installation Guide.
HP P6000 Replication Solutions Manager server software
The replication manager is a graphical and command-line user interface for managing replication
on HP storage arrays. See the HP P6000 Replication Solutions Manager Administrator Guide for
a description of the software features.
HP P6000 Replication Solutions Manager host agent software
The replication manager host agent software is installed on a supported host server. The host agent
software facilitates communication between the management server and the host server. There is
no user interface associated with the host agent software.
When you install the host agent software, you also install the replication manager CLUI client. The
CLUI client is a command-line utility that enables you to run replication manager commands from
the host server.
Prerequisites
Before you install the software:
Read the HP P6000 Replication Solutions Manager Release Notes for any installation or
post-installation requirements specific to this release.
Ensure that your environment includes:
One or more arrays.
A management server running a supported version of Microsoft Windows. (For more
information, see the HP P6000 Enterprise Virtual Array Compatibility Reference).
A host server that has sufficient space and is running a supported operating system. (For
more information, see HP P6000 Enterprise Virtual Array Compatibility Reference)
A host server with the latest patch release. See “Operating system requirements (page
15) for information on host operating system patches.
Ensure that the management server and host servers are connected to the same LAN.
