HP StorageWorks Management Pack for System Center Operations Manager 2007 Installation and User Guide

WMI Events
Understanding E5000/X5000 Configuration
The E5000 Messaging System/X5000 System providers log event information into WMI namespaces.
These WMI indications are used for monitoring the E5000 System/X5000 System. HP Storage
Management Pack rules have a built-in feature to listen to the WMI indications from the E5000/X5000
chassis and storage providers. It generates appropriate events on the OpsMgr 2007 console.
NOTE:
The HP Storage Management Pack supports events only from the chassis and storage components of
E5000 Messaging System and X5000 System.
For more information on how to monitor events from blade servers in an E5000 Messaging System,
see the E5000 Messaging System product documentation.
For more information on how to monitor events from blade servers in an X5000 System, see the
X5000 System product documentation.
Discovery of E5000 Messaging System
To monitor E5000 Messaging Systems remotely, the OpsMgr needs to discover the E5000 Systems.
OpsMgr provides discovery options to list the available servers in the domain to be managed. Ensure
that the E5000 blade server and the OpsMgr server are part of the same domain.
NOTE:
The E5000 Messaging System has to be directly managed by root management server with help of
OpsMgr Agent installed on the managed device during the discovery process.
To discover E5000 Systems in the domain of the management server, complete the following steps:
