1 Understanding Management Pack
This chapter introduces you to the concepts of HP Storage Management Pack. The HP Storage
Management Pack is designed to receive alerts and events from the HP Storage portfolio to the HP
Storage Management Pack for System Center software. It enables you to monitor and administer the
HP Storage devices.
New Features in Version 2.0
The HP Storage Management Pack for System Center version 2.0 includes the following features:
• Supports Diagram View of an E5000 Messaging System with single chassis component.
• Supports Diagram View of a P4000 System.
• Supports SAN/iQ versions 9.0 and 9.5 for a P4000 SAN Solution.
• Supports all events and alerts generated by X5000 System.
• Supports all events and alerts generated by HP 3PAR Storage Systems.
• Introduces changes in the naming convention of the various product families.
Selecting an Event Delivery Method

If you are using the XML event delivery method, the TCP port is automatically unblocked with any
variant of Microsoft Windows Server 2003 with Service Pack 1. The default port number is 8945.
