HP P6000 SmartStart 4.0
Enhancements
This release includes the following enhancements:
• VMware VMDirectPath support—If VMDirectPath is installed, HP P6000 SmartStart can be used
to configure an FC application server and provision storage to the server.
• Enable Command View upgrade path—Use HP P6000 Command View installer interactively to
support software upgrade and to retain the existing Command View configuration for versions
9.3 and later.
• Quick launch of HP P6000 Command View installer with HP P6000 SmartStart 4.0—Install HP
P6000 Command View Software Suite directly from HP P6000 SmartStart 4.0.

You can view the tutorials from the HP P6000 SmartStart for Windows GUI by selecting Main
Menu→Tutorials.
Provisioning storage errors with Windows 2003 SP1
Windows 2003 SP1 has limited functionality for LUN provisioning. If you have issues provisioning
storage from HP P6000 SmartStart in a Fibre Channel configuration, upgrade your Windows 2003
server to SP2.
Alternately, you can provision storage directly from HP P6000 Command View and manually set the
new device as available to Windows.
Japanese virtual disk names
Virtual disk names cannot contain Japanese characters. If they do, errors occur while provisioning
storage for Fibre Channel and iSCSI application servers.
Windows 2003 server requires Windows hotfix
If the management server is running Microsoft Windows 2003, HP P6000 Command View might not
display any arrays. To resolve this issue, you must install a Microsoft hotfix. Go to the following link
for details and the hotfix download:

If you are using the server for storage only, not as a management server, you do not need to install
this hotfix.
