Configuring the DHCP relay agent in the Web
interface
Recommended configuration procedure
Ste
p
Remarks
1. Enabling DHCP and
configuring advanced
parameters for the DHCP
relay agent
Required.
Enable DHCP globally and configure advanced DHCP parameters,
including unauthorized DHCP server detection and periodic refresh of
dynamic client entries.
By default, global DHCP is disabled.
2. Creating a DHCP server
group
Required.
To improve reliability, you can specify several DHCP servers as a group on
the DHCP relay agent and correlate a relay agent interface with the server
group. When the interface receives requesting messages from clients, the
relay agent forwards them to all DHCP servers of the group.
3. Enabling the DHCP relay
agent on an interface
Required.
Enable the DHCP relay agent on an interface, correlate the interface with a
DHCP server group, and configure address match detection on the DHCP
relay agent.
By default, an interface operates in the DHCP server mode. Address match
detection is disabled on the DHCP relay agent by default.
IMPORTANT:
An interface cannot serve as both the DHCP server and the DHCP relay
agent. The latest configuration takes effect.
You must configure an IP address pool on the same network segment as
the DHCP relay agent interface that connects the DHCP clients on the
DHCP server. Otherwise, the clients fails to obtain an IP address.
4. Configuring and displaying
clients' IP-to-MAC bindings
Optional.
Create a static IP-to-MAC binding and view static and dynamic bindings if
address match detection is configured on the interface enabled with the
DHCP relay agent.
By default, no static binding is created.
Enabling DHCP and configuring advanced parameters for the
DHCP relay agent
1. From the navigation tree, select Network > DHCP > DHCP Relay.
The DHCP relay agent configuration page shown in Figure 114 appears.
2. Select the Enable option in the DHCP Service field.
3. Click Display Advanced Configuration to expand the a
