Monitoring the Wireless Network
Disconnecting a Wireless Station
If you access the Device Information > Wireless Stations screen and see a
wireless station that should not connect to your network, you can immediately
disassociate the station. Select the station and click the Disconnect button.
Because the station can immediately reassociate unless you take steps to
prevent this, the prompt shown in Figure 13-2 is displayed.
Figure 13-2. Preventing a Station from Reconnecting to the Wireless Network
If you click the Yes button, the Filter dialog box is displayed. (See Figure 13-3.)
Figure 13-3. Creating a Filter to Block an Unauthorized User’s Access
As the figure shows, the station’s MAC address is already listed in the Starting
MAC and Ending MAC fields, allowing you to quickly create a MAC filter to
prevent the station from reaccessing the wireless network.
You should also take steps to prevent the user from using another station (with
a different MAC address) to access the wireless network. For example, you
may need to change a preshared key that has been compromised or reset a
user’s password.
