Installing the Outlook plug-in
The RISS Outlook plug-in is a COM Add-In for Microsoft Outlook. Installing and conguring the plug-in
provides seamless integ ration to RISS and facilitates retrieval of tombstoned messages a nd search results.
You m
ust h ave local administration privileges to install the plug-in because the installation adds registry
entr
ies in the HKEY_LOC AL_MACHINE key. After the plug-in is installed, all users on the machine can
acc
ess the RISS Outlook Interface when they star t Outlook.
Running the MSI copies and registers the necessar y components in the C:\Program
Files\Hewlett-Packard\HP RISS Outlook Plugin folder. Upon installation, initial registry
settings are made in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE (HKLM). The rst time a user runs Outlook on a mac hine
that has the plug-in installed, these registry settings are copied from HKLM to HKEY_CURRENT_USER
(HKCU).
Th
ese settings are then maintained on a user-by-user basis in HKCU by selecting Tools > Options >
Archive Options, and clicking RISS Options in Outlook.
Registry settings
To change default settings for all users, use regedit to make changes in HKLM so they are copied and
saved to HKCU when each user rst runs O utlook. The following defaults are set in the registry.
