Multiple RISS
systems
Your HP servic
erepresentativecaninitiallysetyourOWARISScong uration for multiple RISS servers,
and set stand
ard and specialize d RISS URL templates. Any numb er of RISS servers can be listed.
Installed RISS servers have standard URL addresses. To accommodate both standard and special RISS
systems, the URL template for any given RISS can be added to the conguration le.
A mail item does not contain a reference to a specic RISS and the user is not aware of the archival state
of a selected
mail item. For this reason the location of physical stora g e is discovered automatically. For
a given user, the complete mail store is located in one RISS. During a session, OWA RISS determines
automatically which RISS store applies to that user and caches that information for the duration of
the session.
Temporary storage in Drafts folder
During normal operation, the OWA process requires temporary storage for rendering the mail parts.
For each RISS mail item opened in OWA to view or forward, a working copy of the email is created in
the user’s D rafts folder. This working copy remains after the item is closed. It can be manually deleted.
Alternatively, a Mail Attender rule can be schedu led to periodically delete the RISS Drafts copies.
The temporary life of the Drafts copy can only be determined by each individua l customer environment.
But there are some built in constraints in OWA. There is a built in session timeout. If the user is inactive
for about 30 minutes, the session will be closed by OWA. The actual time out is determined by individual
customer setup of OWA and users’ mode selection when they log in.
The script prefers to save the temp les in the /Drafts/RissTemp subfolder. If the folder doesn’t exist,
itiscreated.Ifforsomereasonitcannotcreatethesubfolder,itusestheDraftsfolder.
Deleting temporar y Drafts mail items
AMailAttenderruledenes clean up of the Drafts folders. The rule can be scheduled to search selected
mail stores at preset times and delete all RISS draft items. This rule is for external housekeeping and
should be scheduled only in the Mail Attender scheduler, not in the RISS Scheduler. See "Modifying rules
in Mail Attender" on page 130 for information on Mail Attender.
