Mail server conguration
There are two components for every mail server.
Server Deniti
on
The Server Denition de nes the characteristics of each m ail server. A Server Denition will
automatically be created for each mail server during the Email Miner Installation. Each mail
server must be included in a Server Denition and if one does not exist, Email Miner will email
the administr
ators about the problem.
Server Status
The Server Status is automatically created for each mail server when the Email Miner agent executes
and contains processing information for the mail server.
Server denition
AServerDenition is an Email Miner document that is required for every server on which Email Miner
runs. It denes basic information required for every server.
NOTE:
All servers selected during the Email Miner Installation should already have a Server Denition document.
To create and complete a new Server Denition, perform the following steps:
1. Select Create | Administration | 1 . Server Denition.

2. Specify the Basics v alues:
•UseSer vers to specify the servers that should be included within the Server Denition. All
servers within the same Server Denition have the same characteristics/properties.
•UseMaximum agent execution time to specify how long the Email Miner agent can run.
It is recommended that you set this time to be at least 1 0 minutes shorter than the time set
in Maximum Agent Execution Time in the Director y (Name and Address Book). Doing this
allows Email Miner to shut down the agent properly.
•Use#ofGrouplevelsto specif y how many levels of g roup membership are used within
your groups in the Directory. Email Miner will only check the specied numb er of levels for
all g roup membership processing.
