Multiple mai
lstores
The OWA RISS
install procedure performed by your HP service representative can congure multiple mail
stores. OWA
with RISS allows access to any number of mail stores congured through a given Exchange
Server. Typically a user mailbox is completely within one RISS. OWA RISS determines automatically
whichRISSstoreappliestoanygivenuser.

the conguration le.
Multiple RISS systems

Installed RISS servers have standard URL addresses. To accommodate both standard and special RISS
system, the URL template for any given RISS can be added to the conguration le.
A mail item does not contain a reference to a specic RISS and the user is not aware of the archival state
of a selected mail item. For this reason the location of physical storage is discovered automatically. For
a g iven user, the complete mail store is located in one RISS. During a session, OWA RISS determines
automatically which RISS store applies to that user and caches that information for the duration of
the session.
Tempor
ary storage in drafts folder
During
normal operation, the OWA process requires temporary storage for the purpose of rendering the
mail pa
rts. For each RISS mail item op ened in OWA to view or forward, a working copy of the email is
creat
ed in the user’s Drafts folder. This working copy remains after the item is closed. It may be manually
delet
ed. Alternatively, a Mail Attender rule c a n be scheduled to periodically delete the RISS Drafts copies.
The determination of the temporary life of the Drafts copy can only be determined by each individual
customer environment. But there are some built in constraints in OWA. There is a built in session timeout.
If the
user is inactive for about 30 minutes, the session will be closed by OWA. The actual time out is
determined by individual customer setup of OWA and the user’s mode selection when they login.
Thescriptpreferstosavethetemples in the /Drafts/RissTemp subfolder. If there is not one, then the
folder is created. If for some reason it cannot create the subfolder it uses the Drafts folder.
Deleting temporary drafts mail items
A Mail Attender rule denes clean up of the Drafts folders. The rule can be scheduled to search selected
mail stores at preset times and delete all RISS draft items. This rule is for external housekeeping and
should be scheduled only in the Mail Attender scheduler, not in the RISS Scheduler. See "Modifying rules
in Mail Attender" on page 189 for information on Mail At tender.
