Displaying doma
in-affiliated smart cells
1. In the View Cell Space view, find the smart cell's domain.
2. Find the smart cell's sm art c ell group identification number.
3. Click the smart
cell's name. The Agent view appears.
Displaying unaffiliated smart cells
Unaffiliated smart cells are “free” and contain no data.
To display unaffiliated smar t cells:
1. Scroll to the bottom of the View Cell Space view.
2. To display the Agent view, find the smar t cell's smar t cell group identification number and click
the smart cell's name.
Determining
if smart cells are primary or secondary cells
1. In the View Cell Space view, find the smart cell's domain.
2. Find the smart cell's smart cell group identification number. Primary and secondar y cells are
designated by the first letter in the smart cell group identification number:
•P(primary)
•S(secondary)
Determining if smart cells are used for replication
1. In the View Cell Space view, find the smart cell's domain.
2. Find the smart cell's smart cell group identification number. Replicas are designated by the first letter
in the smart cell group identification numb er:
• R1 (primary replica)
• R2 (secondary replica)
Restori
ng data on failed smart cells
To resto
redataonafailedsmartcell,youmusthaveatleastonefreesmartcell.Ifonlyonesmartcellin
agroupfailed,cloneasmartcellinstead(see"Smartcell Cloning" on page 52).
To restore a smart cell, the following must occur:
• Its domain has DataBackupEnabled=true set in Domain.jcml.
• Its gro
up was assigned in this system at one time.
• It is marked as missing in the ViewCellState table or no record exists in the ViewCellState table.
NOTE:
Rebuilding the index on the smart cell takes a significant amount of time depending on the amount
of data being restored.
If both smart cells in a g roup failed, perform the following:
1. In the View Cell Space view, scroll to the Unaffiliated SmartCells area, and verify that at le ast one
free smart cell exists.
2. Locate the p rimary controller:
a. Under MetaServer, click the link to the primary or m ain controller (metaserver). The Agent
view appears.
