HP StorageWorks SAN Virtualization Services Platform Manager user guide (5697-0295, January 2010)

DescriptionProperty
The status of the DPM. Possible values:
Present status. The DPM is recognized and communicating properly with
the active VSM server. The VSM agent on passive VSM servers and fabric
agents on DPMs are polling to the active VSM server through all HBAs as ex-
pected.
Failed status. The DPM is recognized on the SAN but not communicating
with the active VSM server. The agent running on the DPM stopped polling to
the active VSM.
Degraded status. The VSM fabric agent running on the DPM is no longer
polling to the active VSM server through all back-end HBAs. There is at least
one back-end HBA through which the VSM server and the DPM are communic-
ating properly.
Absent status. The DPM is not detected on the SAN.
Status
Indicates whether the DPM is the primary DPM for the virtual disk. The primary
DPM for the virtual disk is the preferred DPM through which permitted hosts access
the virtual disk. In case of failure or manual switchover, the secondary DPM takes
over.
Primary
Indicates whether the DPM is currently active for the virtual disk.Active
Virtual disk informationVirtual Disk Segment tab
The Virtual Disk Segment tab provides information about each segment of the selected virtual disk. A
virtual disk consists of more than one segment if it is created from more than one storage pool or if it
is expanded. Each time a virtual disk is expanded, a new virtual disk segment is created. The expanded
virtual disk then consists of any segments that existed previously and the expansion segment. Virtual
disk segments may be allocated from different storage pools, and on different back-end LUs.
NOTE:
Because the segments come from different sources and are concatenated together, the performance
characteristics of the segments may vary. Therefore, an expansion of a virtual disk in this manner
should be viewed as a temporary measure. You should attempt to migrate the virtual disk as soon as
possible.
