36. Click Finish. The snapclone group is created and the first task starts processing.
Creating snapclone groups on VDGs
Creating a snapclone group on a VDG results in a destination VDG that includes copies of all source
VDG members.
To create a snapclone group on a VDG:
1. Do one of the following:
a. Right-click the VDG that you want to snapclone.
b. Select Manage > Snapclone Service > Create Snapclone Group. The Create Snapclone wizard
opens to the Enter Snapclone Group parameters screen.
or:
a. Right-click the Snapclone Group node.
b. Select New > On VDG. The Create Snapclone Group wizard opens to the Enter Snapclone
Group parameters screen.
2. In the Group name field, enter the name of the group.
3. In the Task name field, enter a name for the first task that will run on the group.
4. In the Destination name field (alternatively called the VDG Snapshots destination name field),
enter the name of the VDG that will be created on the destination.
5. From the Set permission to host dropdown list, select the one of the following:
Without permissionsChoose this option if you do not want to assign permission to any host
to be able to access the destination VDG before the first snapclone task is complete.
Local domain: VSM ServerChoose this option if you want to assign permission to a VSM
server to be able to access the destination VDG while the first snapclone task is in process.
Local domain: UDHChoose this option if you want to assign permission to a UDH host(s)
to be able to access the destination VDG while the first snapclone task is in process.
6. From the Data mover mode dropdown box, select one of the following:
NOTE:
Currently, dedicated data movers are not supported in the HP StorageWorks VSM.
Any nodeSelect this option to allow VSM to select the VSM server that will handle the
groups tasks.
Suggested nodeSelect this option if you want to specify a preferred VSM server to handle
the groups tasks.
7. In the Comment field, enter any desired text.
8. If you right-clicked the VDG you want to snapclone in step 1, continue with step 12. If you
right-clicked the Snapclone Group node in step 1, click Next. The Select VDG Snapshots screen
appears, displaying the list of available VDGs.
9. If you would like to select a VDG from a folder, navigate to the folder in the tree on the left of
the screen. The Select VDG Snapshots screen displays the list of VDGs in the selected folder.
10. Select the VDG that you want to snapclone.
