HP StorageWorks SAN Virtualization Services Platform Manager user guide (AG781-96017, March 2009)

DescriptionProperty
A configurable value that determines when an alert is triggered for cases in which
the number of mirror PiTs on the group source element exceeds the expected limits.
The number of mirror PiTs on the group is expected to go beyond the Required
Source PiTs limit since only after a new PiT is created, and the Required Source
PiTs limit is reached, a mirror triggers a deletion for the oldest mirror PiT which by
itself is a process that takes time.
The source PiT alert value is the number of PiTs above the number specified in the
Required Source PiTs field to allow before triggering an alert. If the number of
mirror PiTs on the group source element exceeds the sum of Required Source PiTs
and Source pits alert, an alert event is sent.
The alert is only sent if VSM Services alerts are enabled. To enable VSM services
alerts, select Options > General from the Tools menu, select the Configuration tab,
and check Turn on VSM services alerts.
Source PiT Alert
The policy for copying user PiTs to destination virtual disks. Possible values:
Copy newest PiTs—When the time comes to start a copy of a new PiT to a task
destination, the mirror service copies only the newest user PiT to the destination.
This means that some user PiTs may be skipped.
Copy all PiTs—A mirror copies all user PiTs to the destination, even if there is
more than one waiting to be copied at a time when conditions become suitable
for the mirror to copy.
