HP StorageWorks SAN Virtualization Services Platform Manager User Guide (5697-0454, May 2010)

5. If you would like to select a storage pool from a folder, navigate to the folder in the tree on the
left of the screen. The Select Storage Pool(s) screen displays the list of storage pools in the selected
folder.
6. Select a storage pool from which you want to allocate more capacity to the virtual disk. The
storage pool must have some free space available.
7. Click Add. The storage pool you selected appears in the lower right area of the screen. If you
want to deselect the storage pool, select the storage pool in the lower right area, and click
Remove.
8. In the Allocated Capacity field of the storage pool, enter the amount of capacity you want to
allocate from the storage pool. You must allocate a value greater than 1 GB and not greater
than the free capacity of the storage pool, or 2 TB of total capacity, whichever is reached first.
The units of measurement are specified in the Units field in the next column. Adjust the units, if
necessary, by clicking the Units field and selecting a new value from the drop-down list.
9. Press Enter.
10. Repeat steps 5 through 9 to allocate more capacity from other storage pools, as required.
11. Click Next. A confirmation screen appears.
12. Click Finish. The virtual disk is expanded.
Managing virtual disk permissions
The following virtual disk permissions operations are available:
Add Host PermissionYou can add permission for one or more hosts to access the virtual disk.
Change Host PermissionYou can change the type of permission assigned to a host that has
permission to access a virtual disk.
Remove Host PermissionYou can remove permission from a host that currently has permission
to access the virtual disk.
Change LUNIf a virtual disk is set to allow permission only to UDH hosts, you can change the
LUN that the DPM uses to expose the virtual disk to the host.
These options are not available for a virtual disk that belongs to a virtual disk group or that has
components associated with it that were created by VSM services, such as the snapshot service.
Adding host permission
You can add host permission to a virtual disk that has no host permission defined or add permission
to an additional host for a virtual disk that already has host permission defined. This option is not
available for a virtual disk that belongs to a VDG or that has components associated with it that were
created by VSM services, such as the snapshot service.
To present one or more virtual disk(s) to a specific host:
1. In the navigation tree, expand the Entities node.
2. Click the Hosts node. The hosts list appears in the list area.
3. Right-click the host to which you want to present virtual disks.
4. Select Manage > Manage Virtual Disk Permission > Add Permissions. The Add Permissions wizard
opens to the Select Virtual Disk(s) screen and displays the list of available virtual disks.
