HP StorageWorks SAN Virtualization Services Platform Manager User Guide (5697-0454, May 2010)

DescriptionProperty
The type of connections over which the VSM servers of the local SVSP domain
recognize the HBA. Possible values:
LocalThe host is the active VSM server that manages the SVSP domain to
which you are connected.
FCThe host is recognized by VSM servers of the local SVSP domain only
over Fibre Channel connections.
iSCSIThe host is recognized by VSM servers of the local SVSP domain only
over iSCSI connections.
MixedThe host is recognized by VSM servers of the local SVSP domain over
both iSCSI and Fibre Channel connections.
Connection Type
The type of operating system that runs on the host.OS Type
The version that is running on a VSM server or on a DPM. This field is blank if the
host is not a VSM server or a DPM.
Agent Version
The primary path through which virtual disks are presented to the host. Preferred
Path is applicable to hosts with the following agent types:
No Agent (UDH)For a UDH that is connected to more than one DPM and
running multipath software, the preferred path specifies a primary DPM for
presenting all assigned virtual disks to the host.
No Agent (HBA)The host entity was created by the VSM server to represent
an HBA that is not registered as belonging to a host. The HBA is installed on
a host that may not yet have an operating system installed. The HBA may be
connected to one or more DPMs. If the host has more than one HBA exposed
to the VSM server, a separate host entity with agent type No Agent (HBA) is
created for each HBA. All such host entities are replaced by one host name
after a UDH is defined to include all the HBAs on the host. The preferred path
specifies a primary DPM for presenting all assigned virtual disks to the host.
If no preferred path is set, VSM distributes virtual disks evenly between DPMs for
static load balancing. When you assign host permission to a virtual disk group,
all members of the virtual disk group are assigned to use the same DPM. All
subsequent virtual disks assigned permission to the host will be assigned to the
other DPM, until the distribution is even.
Both the preferred path and static load balancing are overridden if you set the
primary DPM when creating a virtual disk, or adding host permission to a virtual
disk.
Preferred Path
The host group to which the host belongs. This field is blank if the host does not
belong to a host group.
Host Group
A free text display field. To modify the text that appears here, right-click the host
and select Manage > Edit Comment. You can use this field for any purpose.
Comment
The first of the range of LUNs that can be assigned to virtual disks when they are
assigned to this host from this SVSP domain.
Defining LUN ranges ensures that, if a host is exposed to more than one SVSP
domain, all virtual disks are exposed to the host as different LUNs.
Not relevant for VSM servers.
