HP StorageWorks SAN Virtualization Services Platform Manager User Guide (5697-0454, May 2010)

Possible actionDescriptionTask status
On the host running the sync mirror group, verify that
the status of each tasks destination virtual disk is
Normal. If the status of a destination virtual disk is
Partial instead of Normal, do the following:
Check VSM connectivity with the storage systems
and the zoning and LUN masking configuration.
After all tasks are fixed, resume the group (see
Resuming synchronous mirror
groups on page 307).
If the problem persists, delete the group (see De-
leting synchronous mirror groups on page 307).
Deleting a group when the status is Partial detaches
all the tasks and leaves the virtual disks without
host permissions. You can then use the remaining
virtual disks.
A host error occurred and the mir-
ror service cannot determine from
which virtual disk to recover.
Partial
Wait until the groups status returns to normal before
you add another task.
The group is in the process of
copying data from one task to an-
other in the background. This pro-
cess is initiated when a new task is
created or when the mirror recovers
a task after it failed.
Snapsync
Troubleshooting cluster virtual disks
This section describes each task status and group status for sync mirror groups used by cluster nodes,
and suggests possible actions you can take when the status indicates a problem.
For a description of each task status and the possible actions to take, see Table 128 on page 310.
Table 130 Possible actions according to group status for cluster virtual disks
Possible actionDescriptionTask status
None required.
The groups tasks are proceeding
normally. At least one cluster node
is present.
Normal
Try to fix any failed tasks. Once fixed, try to resync
the group (see Resynchronizing synchronous mirror
groups on page 307). If you cannot fix the failed tasks,
you can detach the failed tasks. This returns the group
status to normal (seeDetaching synchronous mirror
tasks on page 309).
One of the tasks is failing, but the
group remains functional because
it is running in Continue-on-Fail
mode and has tasks whose statuses
are normal.
