You may find permission templates a more efficient way of configuring security permissions for entities.
Permissions templates enable you to save sets of configured permissions and apply them to entities.
You can also use permissions already configured for an entity to create a permission template. For
information about working with permission templates, see Working with permission
templates on page 354.
Adding users or user groups to entities
When you add a user or user group to an entity, the user receives Read permission. You can change
the permission type. You can add multiple users and user groups at once.
To add users or user groups to an entity:
1. Do one of the following:
Right-click an entity and select Security.
Select an entity and click in the toolbar.
The Security dialog box appears.
2. Click Add user/user group. The Add user/user group permission wizard opens to the Select
user(s) screen.

3. If you want to add a user to the entity, select the user in the upper area of the screen.
4. Click Add. The user you selected appears in the lower area of the screen. If you want to deselect
the user, select the user in the lower area and click Remove.
5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 if necessary until all the users you want to add to the entity are listed in
the lower area of the screen.
6. Click Next. The Select user group(s) screen appears.
7. If you want to add a user group to the entity, select the user group in the upper area of the screen.
8. Click Add. The user group you selected appears in the lower area of the screen. If you want to
deselect the user group, select the user group in the lower area and click Remove.
