Configuring event log notifications
When specific events occur, the VSM client can automatically send event notification e-mails to specific
users. To configure the specific events that trigger event notification e-mails and the specific users who
receive event notification e-mails, you can configure event log notification groups. An event log
notification group is a group of users who are notified when certain events occur. Before you can
configure an event log notification group to receive notifications, you need to make sure that there is
a common e-mail address or Outlook contact group for the members of the group.
NOTE:
To support the use of a Microsoft Outlook contact group, the VSM server must be on the network and
the SMTP server and port of the Outlook mail server must be defined in VSM Monitor, an application
that runs on the VSM server computer.
You can:
Create new event log notification groups
Edit event log notification groups
Delete event log notification groups
Creating new event log notification groups
