Changing storage pool free capacity alert threshold
If the free capacity of a storage pool drops below a configurable percentage of the total capacity, a
notification is sent to any notification groups configured to receive this type of alert. For information
about configuring notification groups, see Configuring event log notifications on page 367.
The alert threshold is configurable for each storage pool, and is displayed for each storage pool in
the storage pools list. The alert threshold is specified at the creation of a storage pool and can be
changed at any time.
To change the alert level for a storage pool:
1. From the navigation tree, navigate to the storage pool for which you want to set the free capacity
alert threshold. To display all storage pools, select the Storage Pool node. To display storage
pools that you have copied to a folder, navigate to the folder.
2. Right-click the selected storage pool.
3. Select Manage > Free Capacity Alert Threshold.
4. The Free Capacity Alert Threshold wizard opens to the Alert Level screen.

5. In the Free Capacity Alert Threshold field, enter the new threshold. The alert threshold is set as
a percentage of the total storage pool capacity and can be set to any value between 0 and 100.
By default, the threshold is 10%. This value should be increased if you know that there is a long
purchasing cycle to add more disk space.
6. Click Next. A confirmation screen appears.
7. Click Finish. The alert level is set.
Deleting storage pools
The deletion option is only available for storage pools that are not being used for virtual disk allocation.
