Read-only permissions are not supported in the VSM GUI
Do not assign read-only permissions to a virtual disk using the VSM GUI, even if this is allowed in the
GUI.
Potential for I/O loss with synchronous mirrors due to active DPM failure
I/O loss could occur with synchronous mirroring using “Sync Always” groups (not with “Continue on
Fail” groups) when an active DPM is completely disconnected from the domain. Ensure that members
of the synchronous mirror group are failed over to the other DPM before disconnecting an active DPM
from the SAN.

Unable to FTP during upgrade
If you are unable to connect to a DPM using FTP during an upgrade for the DPM, contact HP services
for assistance.
Host receives “Unsupported IOCTL 6” errors on non-gigabyte aligned sync mirror virtual disks
Synchronous mirror virtual disks have a limitation where the host might receive I/O errors if the size
of the virtual disk is not aligned on a 1 GB (1024 MB) boundary or is a multiple of specific values,
depending on the virtual disk size. This also affects synchronous mirror virtual disks created from
imported virtual disks. The VSM currently does not prevent you from creating a synchronous mirror
that does not conform to this rule. If an synchronous mirror is created where this rule is not satisfied,
it can be fixed by removing the synchronous mirror and expanding the virtual disk to the next GB
boundary. This is subject to application or file system support for virtual disk expansion. Also note
that an imported virtual disk that undergoes expansion cannot be exported.
The synchronous mirror virtual disk size rule is: Virtual disk size should be aligned at a GB boundary,
or the virtual disk size must be less than or equal to a multiple defined below.

Change active switch command does not work with Sun Solaris hosts
The change active switch command is an operation that you can initiate on the VSM to force
a virtual disk to become active on the other DPM. This is typically used in maintenance operations to
proactively failover virtual disks to one of the DPMs so that the other DPM can be serviced. When a
