HP StorageWorks SAN Virtualization Services Platform Manager user guide (5697-0295, January 2010)

The range of OUID values is 1 to 32767. A LUN with an OUID of 0 is regarded as having no
OUID. VSM performs a verification to make sure that an assigned OUID is within the permitted
range of 0 to 32767.
OUID assignments are persistent, but can be manually changed by users.
NOTE:
SVSP behaves in the following ways when managing OUIDs:
SVSP does not perform verification for the reuse of OUIDs when OUIDs are assigned or changed.
NOTE:
OUIDs must be unique within an OpenVMS cluster.
SVSP permits users to assign a virtual disk to an OpenVMS host even if the virtual disk has an
OUID of 0.
VSM notifies the DPM when OUIDs are assigned or changed. This is necessary to enable the DPM
to follow commands from the host after the change is made.
SVSP does not notify the host when OUIDs are assigned or changed.
For information on assigning OUIDs, see the following sections:
Managing OUIDs for virtual disks on page 119
Managing OUIDs for VDGs on page 136
Managing OUIDs for snapshots and VDG snapshots on page 230
You cannot directly assign OUIDs for synchronous mirror groups. Rather, a synchronous mirror group
acquires its OUID from the virtual disk that was used to create it.
Viewing the hosts list
The hosts list displays all the hosts exposed to the local SVSP domain. The hosts list also includes VSM
servers.
To view the hosts list:
1. In the navigation tree, expand the Entities node.
2. Click the Host node. The hosts list appears in the list area. The following properties are displayed
for each host.
