6 Masking and Mapping Profile
Profile introduction
The VSM server supports the SMI-S 1.4.0 Masking and Mapping Subprofile in the manner specified
by the SMI-S 1.4 Storage Virtualizer Profile. The Masking and Mapping functionality encompasses
the management actions and state representation for VSM hosts mapped to VirtualDisks and Snapshots

Functional description
The Masking and Mapping Subprofile models the host mapping capabilities of the VSM Server.
Specifically, the subprofile provides:
The basic mapping of VirtualDisks and Snapshots to VSM hosts.
The modeling and managing of permissions of hosts to VirtualDisks and Snapshots.
The managing of hosts, the organization of HBAs into hosts, and host characteristics.

Note that there are two relevant services:
HPSVSP_ControllerConfigurationService: Allows an SMI-S client to create or modify mappings
between a host and a virtual disk or snapshot.
HPSVSP_StorageHardwareIDManagementService: Allows an SMI-S client to organize HBAs into
hosts.
